UT Tyler cross country student-athletes Matthew Markert and Brittany Brunson have each been named the American Southwest Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week the league office announced Monday.

The UT Tyler men's and women's cross country teams dominated the 2014 season-opener, both picking up first-place finishes in the King Campbell Spectacular meet. Matthew Markert and Brittany Brunson took the top-spots in their races.

The UT Tyler men's and women's cross country teams are ready for the 2014, looking to defend the ASC championships they won a year ago. The season gets underway this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Tyler.
